T'lian had gone to bed early the night before, due mostly to boredom. He'd lacked lessons or any serious work, and with his few friends otherwise occupied, he was left with little to do. After a little light reading and spending a bit of time poking and examining his new fire lizard egg (which he still had found no home for), he decided to turn in and get some real sleep.
Maybe he was a little more tired than he thought, because the following morning he'd slept far later than usual. He woke only a couple hours before noon. It was nice to sleep in for a change, and since the morning had been slow as well, it gave him time to have a relaxing long breakfast and spend some time training Fellis. He'd finally taught the little beast how to fetch specific items for him, making his work a little bit easier and providing some quality entertainment for colleagues and friends. Fellis was still a bit too skittish to perform under pressure, but the little beast had grown braver over time, so T'lian was confident that eventually, it would work.
He was just beginning to ponder a stroll when a sudden shudder ran through him. There is an emergency Kahduceth said with unnatural alarm, his stern and robust voice filled with chilled reservation. He's going to die without you!
An image flashed. It was fleeting, perhaps relayed from someone else who'd already seen. It came and went so fast, and yet certain parts of it were swiftly burned into the healer's mind. He saw blood, exposed bone, and mangled flesh. He wasn't sure who it was or what had happened, but the urgency in Khaduceth's voice reaffirmed his immediate concern. He dropped his parchment and sprang to his feet, much to Fellis' alarm, and took off into the hallway to try and meet the injured party. He could only assume that they were, in fact, on their way.
Ravana is bringing him. He is badly wounded Khaduceth reported, his voice tingling with what may have been oddly placed anticipation. Khaduceth shamelessly enjoyed watching Tlian's work, and quite often the dragon made dry, tasteless jokes about how there needed to be more accidents around the Weyr. Tal had no doubt that his dragon would be excited to see him work, but he would have to save any comments on tastelessness for later..not that he was likely to say anything at all. T'lian had a grim sense of humor himself.
By the time he reached the lobby, some of the others healers had already greeted the wounded boy and his helper. Tal grimaced at the sight. It was the worse he'd ever seen, even worse than Jada.
You can save him
I know
"Come on! Get him into the first available room and get me some redwort!" he called out. He ran over to inspect the wound, keeping his hands clear until he could wash them. "What happened? Can either of you tell me?" he asked, eyes flashing between Oahvakeen and Ravana.
