Between being up every two hours to feed Erebuth, who seemed to prefer even more frequent and smaller meals than his siblings, and the constant fear shared by the others that their bondmates would suddenly expire and subsequent panicked checking of vitals, Kitt was absolutely exhausted. He’d actually fallen asleep in his soup yesterday; what a mess that had been! But at least it had made the others laugh and brightened all their spirits a little.
He looked over at where his dragon--he didn’t think he’d ever get tired of that phrase!--was curled up with his flit, smiling fondly. Nutmeg had been fascinated by the tiny blue dragon and after a few mishaps had befriended Erebuth. The two were so similar in size and Nutty had been so confused at the Giant Firelizard who kept insisting he was a dragon, but the two had eventually settled down, with the brown becoming fiercely protective of his blue friend.
The dragonet was painfully shy, really only comfortable with his clutchmates, though he was beginning to be less timid around the healers who came most frequently. He still had a tendency to hide behind Kitt when other visitors came around, but hopefully that would fade with time and exposure.
He had just settled back onto the bed with them to try to catch a little bit more sleep when Zellekath announced her presence out on the ledge. With a tiny groan, he regretfully went to open his door to let Eb’zer in to check up on the weyrlings. “Hi, Eb’zer,” he greeted the healer with a tired smile. There was a tiny thump and a disgruntled chitter from Nutmeg behind him as Erebuth jumped down off the bed and cautiously stuck his nose out around Kitt’s legs to see who it was.
