T'drin leaned against the stands as he watched the procession of eggs hatch and the dragonets impress their chosen. After the last egg had hatched a lull seemed to descend on the grounds as those present waited for the remaining eggs to burst with the dragonets still waiting. Eggs shifted and shuddered but nothing seemed to progress as the bronzerider yawned with boredom. Generally, T'drin enjoyed a good hatching but as of late he and Gelabrith had taken to discussing the issues he faced lately far into the night. You will need to make a decision soon you know, the bronze said from his vantage point. T'drin shook his head, ignoring the comment, refusing to give the bronze an answer. He had no intention of rushing this decision. Rushing never seemed to work in his favor, so he would try slow instead.
More babies come
T'rdin straightened to get a better look. Nearly an hour had past since the last batch had hatched and the rider wondered what was in store for them with this bunch. The Impulsive egg shook violently, sending itself tumbling away and minute cracks began to appear along the shell of Defiant egg, but it was the Lively egg that spewed forth it's cargo first. TheLively dragonet shook himself much like a canine and began to dance around searching for his boy. Vengeful's hairline cracks began to make a circuit around the dark brown shell promising another dragonet, but it was another egg that beat it to the punch. Proud brought forth another brown just in time for Lively to make his choice, dancing away with his boy.
Inflexible split down the middle and ablue dragonet sat, rather comically, between the two shell halves. The young blue shot to his feet and made a beeline towards the waiting group of boys as Defiant broke through, revealing another blue . Vengeful and Sensible broke shell at nearly the same time, a small green falling from the Vengeful egg, followed closely by another blue from the Sensible egg. Vengeful shrieked angrily and began to dart around the sands, tripping and falling against Detached egg.
Sensible and Proud made no grand show in finding their chosen. Proud pairing off with a likely boy with his own proud look and Sensible found himself being lead away by a young man who chattered at the young blue. The abuse the Detached egg took began to show itself, a large crack growing on the side of the golden shell. Studious produced another green who sat very still and very quietly amongst the shattered remains of her shell. The small Studious
Defiant bounced and hopped about the sands, tumbling into his green sister Vengeful as she continued her mad dash about the sands. She hissed angrily at her brother before pouncing on the blue. The pair tumbled hissing and shrieking into Inflexible whom swatted at the fighting pair. Boys ran to separate the silly wherries and eyes all around flashed madly with the colors of impression as first Defiant and then Inflexible found their mates. The boys were quickly followed by Vengeful as a sobbing young boy lead the limping dragonet to the healers.
The smallStudious shook bits of shell from her body as she made a dash towards a waiting boy. The green leapt into the arms of her bonded and away the pair went amidst chuckles from the spectators. T'drin shook his head at the antics of the dragonets. It brought back memories of his impression to Gelabrith and the bronzes own mauling of the girl, Flora. I still insist she should not have been in my way, the bronze grumbled as the memory flooded his brain. T'drin laughed out right as he sat back to watch the ever growing crack on the side of the Detached egg.
He did not have to wait long for the crack widened and grew, breaking the golden shell into pieces. A rather plain lookinggold tumbled to the sands and was quickly followed by the Impulsive dragonet. The Detached sat where she hatched, whirling eyes surveying the crowd of girls that stood around her, the air about her cool as she judged and weighed those present. Finally the young dragonet stood and with purposeful stride made her way to the group. She ignored the hopefuls that thought to stay her course, foolish as it were. Detached awkward gait tripped her up and she stumbled just as she reached her bonded.
Impulsive stretched and squeaked and squeaked again at the sound that came out of her. What an interesting sound! The little green squeaked again and then again as she danced and hopped with glee at the delightful sound she made as she went to the group of boys. Laughter rang out and the Impulsive dragonet skipped from one boy to another, sniffing and snuffling at robes. Finally eyes declared the youngster impressed and Impulsive was lead away, still squeaking at a laughing boy.
