The past few days had been a whirlwind of activity and lessons and one explosive tantrum of epic proportions. She'd learned the proper way to oil her dragon, the proper amount of food Mizeath needed to grow properly and how to sleep around the bulk of a five foot long dragon and a three foot tall toddler. She also learned that calm and collected Mizeath was capable of the most outrageous tantrums. It had been a learning experience to say the least. Most of it she'd already known from being around her father and his brown, Midranth but somethings she hadn't even been aware of. For one, she hadn't realized Mizeath would eat so very much and sleep so very much in the first few days. She'd had an idea, but damned if that little gold couldn't pack away food and sleep the day away. It was like having an infant child all over again. Which in a way it was she supposed.
Tonight was no different really except the later hour. Ameris was attempting to teach Mizeath a better slept schedule so had decided that staying out later would help. She'd done it with Rislan when he was a baby so the theory should be much the same. She was one of the last to leave the dining hall, small gold in tow. She knew Mizeath was tired. Lagging behind with a droopy tail and limp wings but Ameris walked sedately and slowly so the tired dragonet could keep up with her.
They'd just entered the main part of the square when she realized there was someone seated upon a rock. The vague shape looked familiar as she walked closer. It was Vaelya. She hadn't seen her friend since the day of the hatching and rather missed their conversations. She looks sad, Mizeath commented on a jaw cracking yawn. Ameris murmured in agreement as they walked closer still.
She started to reach out to touch Vaelya on her shoulder but decided against it. The woman seemed so deep in thought that Ameris was loath to frighten her. Instead Ameris cleared her throat loudly as she said, "Vaelya? What are you doing out here by yourself?"
