Vee had had a long couple of days, hard days, not physically hard, but watching the newest batch of hatchlings running around hurt her heart still and regardless of what K'ton had said a few nights past. The thought of that sent a flush to her cheeks and an embarrassed smile graced her lips as she cleaned up the tables in the dining hall. She caught herself before anyone could ask her about that smile and she pushed it and her thoughts of a certain brownrider away as she finished up her chores.
A while later she was finished with her duties and not feeling like going to bed so she took a walk around the gather square, then sat herself by a rock. She curled up on herself, legs drawn up, arms wrapped around them after fixing her dress skirts. She had her chin on her knees and her dark eyes were watching those coming and going from one place to the next. She didn't have anywhere to really go, or anything to do until she went to bed, but she wondered a bit at where others were off to. She saw dragons landing here and there with and without riders, curling up in the bowl or landing near huts to sleep for the night.
Most of these things she saw didn't bother her, they were things she saw day in ad and day out. In between lessons, and classes, between meals and chores, it never really changed, save for hatchings. That was what currently had her so down. She knew she still had some time, but it still bothered her that she had been taken because she had that something they were looking for, ony to still after all this time, still be a failure. She was always glad to see new hatchlings bonded however, and she was especially glad that Ameris had bonded to a beautiful gold. That trail of thought lead her to think that she really needed to visit with her and congratulate her properly. With everyone being so busy the last few days, falling into new routines of caring for their new bonds, she hadn't had a moment to seek her out and speak with her.
She gave a soft sigh and leaned on the rock some. She watched a few weyrlings lead their dragons off to the barracks and was overwhelmed with sadness again. She would seek Ameris out another day maybe, tonight she doubted she would be the best of company for the young woman.
