“Don’t worry about it,” F’drel said, shaking his head. “R’dal insisted on giving her a tour as soon as she arrived.”
And we’ve been here practically every day since! Halomirth added cheerfully. Really, it was a bit much how worried F’drel was about his sister, but Halomirth figured if they were at Fort, even if just visiting R’dal, it would be better than letting her rider pace his weyr forever.
The reassurance that the Touching was going as expected made F’drel let out an imperceptible sigh of relief. He’d been a little worried after Thallyath’s, despite, logically, knowing the disastrousness of it was probably something to do with that one Clutch and its specific circumstances. The one Touching he’d attended had been fine. F’drel didn’t remember anyone crying, at least. Ferra would be fine. Most likely. Quinvalis had said ‘mostly,’ after all...
“Yeah, we were planning on waiting,” F’drel confirmed. “You’re welcome to stay if you like.” Halomirth nodded enthusiastically. It wasn’t like F’drel was going anywhere, not until Ferra came back. If he went anywhere it might make it difficult for her to find him. Miri had decided to stay with him, instead of visiting with friends. He was pretty sure she could probably be tempted off by any the right blue, but so far she hadn’t been and F’drel was always happy to have the company of his dragon. And Quinvalis wasn’t bad company either.
“Do you want to talk about how it went?” F’drel asked, giving Quinvalis the opportunity to talk about the Touching if he wanted. Miri would enthuse over anything he said, and F’drel could try to focus on whatever the conversation was instead of worrying over Ferra. Or at least worrying a little less.
