It was hard to fight the laugh that threatened to spill out at the confounded look on R'nya's face but Ameris was successful. Most in the weyr knew of her pregnancy, it was hard to completely hide the growing stomach behind flowing skirts, but she hadn't really done much in the way of keeping the other weyrs informed of the situation. She probably should have given the fact birth was not the safest thing in the world, but it wasn't her first and Rislan had been an easy birth so she was confident this one would be as well. She figured M'ris would send the news when he was ready, so she left it to him to decide.
"I'm glad. It's awfully quiet without Rhaedalyn and Kahleena about," she said. There were a few baby golds at Ista but it was the ones Ameris' knew the best that she missed the most. She settled a little more against Mizeath's side, a small hint of surprise leaking into her face when R'nya plopped down with her. The action shouldn't have surprised her, he'd done much the same many times with her, but he was still the no nonsense R'nya he ever was and when he let go just a little it was surprising. "Two and four already? Time surely does fly when it comes to little ones."
She chuckled when he asked after Rislan. Rislan was ever the hell-raiser. He'd always been forward and independent, which had only gotten worse when they'd moved to Ista. "He is insisting that five is plenty old enough for his own dragon. I've finally convinced him to wait a little longer and he makes do with Mud instead," she laughed. Mud had positively abandoned her for Rislan, the traitorous firelizard. "He's excited about the new baby. And bossy," she laughed again, "Tells me all the time to be careful, no running, no jumping."
"How is Fort?" she asked, curious about her home weyr. She'd been born there, gotten a small start to her childhood there before the plague decimated everything. She wondered if it was the same as her childish memories said it was.It is not Katila, but it will do, the gold replied to Xyreith as he finished settling behind R'nya. Katila would always be her first love. She'd always had the deepest respect for the other dragon, considering him all that one should be and she had no issue with a conversation with him. It is strange and wonderful to have my own weyr. There are other golds here, yes, but it is mine and not theirs. The gold was not generally possessive but in this, she was very much so. Ista was hers and hers alone. The others were just borrowing it.
