737.06.24 | Checking Up, Checking In - R'nya - 24.Oct.16

Appearing out of between and into the bright spring sunshine, Xyreith bellowed a greeting to the watch dragon, pausing in flight to exchange further greetings when the beast questioned the appearance of a Weyrleader and his beast. Once the green and rider were assured that it was pleasure they were there for, Xyreith tilted his body and angled lazily for the Weyr lake, having been informed during their conversation that that was where he could find his quarry.

Atop his neck, R’nya sat through the dragon’s greeting silently, one hand pressed to Xyreith’s neck and his lips pursed in a line as he looked about with a vague sense of curiosity. He’d never been to the Weyr in question, and he and Xyreith had had to ask around to get a solid image of the Weyr’s landmarks so they could travel between safely. It was something he was going to add to the Wing practices when he returned; it simply wasn’t good not to have everyone knowing each of the various Weyr’s landmarks.

Is that them?
Looks to be, the bronze dragon returned mildly, angling towards the gold and her rider who appeared to be relaxing by the lake. Xyreith rumbled a greeting to Mizeath as he landed a polite distance away, landing tidily. R’nya waited until the bronze had tucked his wings back against his sides before unbuckling himself and sliding gracefully from his neck.

“Ameris!” The cheerful tone of R’nya’s voice broke the silence after the beat of Xyreith’s wings, and the bronzerider strode forward towards the young woman he’d shepherded back at Katila Weyr. He hadn’t seen her since they’d all gone their separate ways, but that didn’t mean she hadn’t been on his mind at least occasionally. “How have you been, my dear?”

Re: Checking Up, Checking In [Ameris] - Ameris - 26.Oct.16

She lounged against the golden hide of her dragon, eyes closed as she tried to nap. The babe inside moved like a demon, punching her in the bladder more often than was necessary and Ameris had no doubt the child was a boy. Mizeath was determined that the babe was a girl, but Ameris had her doubts. What could possibly try to kick it's way out more violently than a boy child? Rislan was not the mover that this one is, Ameris, so there for it must be a girl the dragon told her quietly and Ameris laughed. It was a regular game the pair played. Trying to out guess the other as to the sex of her and M'ris' child.

She smiled softly at the thought of the bronze pair that had caught both her interest and that of Mizeath. She had despaired that the gold would never settle her sights on just one particular dragon but it appeared she had. Not that Ameris complained. It was nice to wake to the same face after a flight for once. She enjoyed their times together and M'ris wasn't overly abusive or demanding. Not that she had expected as much, he was far too sad was her thought, for actions like that. Of course, they hadn't really experienced a situation that would call for it and she was glad for it. After her father, the goldrider had vowed that no other man would touch her that way and she did not relish the thought of what could happen.

Xyreith and R'nya approach as the gold rumbled her own greeting at the bronze.

Another smile bloomed on her face at the announcement and Ameris was again grateful for the dragon that was her own. Mizeath always had a knack for dragging her rider's mind from the most unpleasant of memories and Ameris loved her more for it. "R'nya!" she called out her own greeting, "I'd get up to hug you but I'm afraid I might embarrass myself with the attempt." Her joy at seeing him was not feigned. She had come a long way from the ragamuffin he'd groomed to be a goldrider and she had missed his advice and friendship. There had been a time the goldrider had fancied him more than she should have but time and distance had tempered it into an easy friendship instead.

"Fat," she answered ruefully as she waved at her overgrown stomach and winced as a toe pressed against her ribs. "How are you? Rhaedalyn?" For all that Ameris, and in turn Mizeath, disliked Aradissicath she just couldn't bring herself to hate the sweet goldrider. Rhaedalyn was far to nice for such emotion. It was lovely to be in her own weyr, she had fallen quite in love with Ista, but Ameris missed the other goldriders she had become accustomed to.

Re: Checking Up, Checking In [Ameris] - R'nya - 29.Oct.16

To say R’nya was surprised by Ameris’ pregnancy would be an understatement, and for a spilt second there was an expression of dumbfounded surprise on the usually stoic dragonrider’s face, before it vanished behind his usual mask – albeit one with a half-smile forming on his lips. “That is quite fine!” Memories of Rhaedalyn and her pregnancy flittered to the forefront of his mind, and thankfully outweighed the older memories of Etralla, though she’d not lived to see her pregnancy through to an end. The times with Rhaedalyn were fun, exciting, and were warm memories to fall back on.

“Rhaedalyn and the girls are doing well! Alyren will be two soon and Varlea will be four at the end of the Turn. They grow so fast!” Giving Mizeath a polite pat to the nose, R’nya settled himself on the ground opposite Ameris, pleased to update her on the antics of his two little girls – even if one of them was a fosterling, it didn’t stop her from calling him daddy so it was certainly not going to stop him from calling her his. “How is your little man?” He hadn’t spent much time around the child, but he remembered a cute little boy that was a few Turns older than Varlea. “Is he excited by the new baby?”

Xyreith moved to join the party with easy motions, curling up behind R’nya and rumbling a more personal greeting to Mizeath. He hadn’t gotten to spend much time around the young gold, not after claiming Aradissicath as his own. He loved her dearly, but she was a jealous girl and he was more inclined to not pissing her off by socialising with the other gold dragons, if that is all it took to keep her happy – and generally, it was. But Xyreith wasn’t about to ignore Mizeath when he was in her Weyr, and certainly not when Aradissicath wasn’t there to scold him with her gaze of liquid fury. He’d probably get chewed out when he got home, but he’d worry about that later.

How are you liking your new home? While not the chattiest of dragons, Xyreith was genuinely curious to know how Mizeath was settling into the Weyr that she had claimed as her own. Certainly she had to be more comfortable now than when she and every other gold were fighting for a spot on the Hatching Sands, or fleeing because someone else was taking Flight and they couldn’t be in the same area. Gold dragons were so much drama!

Re: Checking Up, Checking In [Ameris] - Ameris - 04.Nov.16

It was hard to fight the laugh that threatened to spill out at the confounded look on R'nya's face but Ameris was successful. Most in the weyr knew of her pregnancy, it was hard to completely hide the growing stomach behind flowing skirts, but she hadn't really done much in the way of keeping the other weyrs informed of the situation. She probably should have given the fact birth was not the safest thing in the world, but it wasn't her first and Rislan had been an easy birth so she was confident this one would be as well. She figured M'ris would send the news when he was ready, so she left it to him to decide.

"I'm glad. It's awfully quiet without Rhaedalyn and Kahleena about," she said. There were a few baby golds at Ista but it was the ones Ameris' knew the best that she missed the most. She settled a little more against Mizeath's side, a small hint of surprise leaking into her face when R'nya plopped down with her. The action shouldn't have surprised her, he'd done much the same many times with her, but he was still the no nonsense R'nya he ever was and when he let go just a little it was surprising. "Two and four already? Time surely does fly when it comes to little ones."

She chuckled when he asked after Rislan. Rislan was ever the hell-raiser. He'd always been forward and independent, which had only gotten worse when they'd moved to Ista. "He is insisting that five is plenty old enough for his own dragon. I've finally convinced him to wait a little longer and he makes do with Mud instead," she laughed. Mud had positively abandoned her for Rislan, the traitorous firelizard. "He's excited about the new baby. And bossy," she laughed again, "Tells me all the time to be careful, no running, no jumping."

"How is Fort?" she asked, curious about her home weyr. She'd been born there, gotten a small start to her childhood there before the plague decimated everything. She wondered if it was the same as her childish memories said it was. It is not Katila, but it will do, the gold replied to Xyreith as he finished settling behind R'nya. Katila would always be her first love. She'd always had the deepest respect for the other dragon, considering him all that one should be and she had no issue with a conversation with him. It is strange and wonderful to have my own weyr. There are other golds here, yes, but it is mine and not theirs. The gold was not generally possessive but in this, she was very much so. Ista was hers and hers alone. The others were just borrowing it.

RE: 737.06.24 | Checking Up, Checking In - R'nya - 17.Jun.17

R’nya smiled slightly, nodding his head in agreement; “It has been very quiet for me with all you ladies spread across the globe!” If it weren’t for all the work he found himself required to do as a Weyrleader (in training, since he technically had no idea what he was doing) R’nya was quite sure he would be beyond bored without his lovely golden girls to keep him company. As it was, helping Rhaedalyn and babysitting Aradissicath and her clutches was keeping both himself and Xyreith busy.

“Really, it is not so different as when I left it, truth be told,” R’nya admitted quietly, pulling up a flower and plucking the petals off it as he spoke. “I was born in Fort; had quite the ambitions as a child though the actual work is rather more than I anticipated.” He smiled slightly, looking bemused. “I rather enjoy seeing it becoming filled with dragons once more, though the halls are dusty with memories.” Heavy memories, though the joy of spending most of his time with Rhaedalyn and their children was a wonderful start to new memories in his beloved home.

I believe Aradissicath feels much the same way about Fort, though it will always be home for me. Xyreith’s voice was uncharacteristically warm as he thought of his home, emotions from R’nya and memories from his rider’s past brimming at the edge of his own mind. The great bronze chuckled softly at Mizeath’s possessive comments, eyes swirling in amusement. There are many young golds at Fort, but only Dissi has flown; she is much more relaxed having the Sands to herself. Which said a lot, considering Xyreith had been at the receiving end of much of her snarky comments when she had to share the Sands at Katila.

Jenn - sorry it took so long XD Have some chatty boys lol.
