V'ler snorted softly in amusement over Indivara's complete distaste and disinterest in the papers. He wasn't worried about her reading them--he wouldn't have brought them home otherwise--and knew she wouldn't share anything that did stick out to her. "They aren't too bad when you're alert and in the mood to read such things. Clearly, last night I was neither." Or, more accurately, early that morning. He really did need to work on his bed times.
"But I like your idea. I think I'll start reading you these things as bed time stories to help settle you down." Was he implying she was one of the brats in the creche because of her height? Absolutely. Their relationship was built on barbs and teasing and it persisted still; though V'ler knew he not only had no room to talk given his own short stature but that Indivara would toss something back at him, possibly even her first.
That didn't mean he would give her an opening though. His grin from the teasing melted away as he moved into asking a favour. Given his playful insulting, Indivara would no doubt be inclined to deny him but the serious nature of it would likely still her tongue. "Also, can Queenie watch Quill and Vex after dinner? I have to talk to an ex-rider and he can't handle even firelizards around him and while they usually listen, she's great for keeping them in line." He hadn't grown up around dragons but had been a rider for nine years. The thought of losing Veeth and continuing on with a void in his heart and head didn't seem possible to him anymore no matter the fact that he managed just fine before Veeth came along.
"But that's later and I have a free afternoon," V'ler smiled at Indivara as he took her hand to pull her closer, intent on distracting them both from thinking about depressing things like being dragonless.
