Hello loves! While I haven't been writing, I have been working on updating some issues that have been hanging around on the layout! The Character change box is now at the bottom of the page, beside the up/down arrows! Green and Gold dragon flight dates have been shifted to the bottom of the page, where the (useless!) discord widget was located. Where the dragon flights were in the header, is now replaced by a Monthly Event box! This will be updated at the start of each month, with a fun mini-event you can take part in, if you want to! M’ris looked over the list of names that Casa had given him once more. He liked that she wanted to do something with a mix of Candidates and some of the younger dragonriders to help build relations and give them a more relaxed setting to ask questions, or however it was she had worded it. He was still stressed from dealing with the fallout of the Hatching and the fact they would start running low on supplies soon due to the heatwave to fully listen to the girl.
She seemed so excited for the camping trip though and M’ris had to admit there were benefits, like she had pointed out. He suspected that the list was carefully created with the names of people Casa was friends with or were known to be fun, but it was a good enough mix that he could support the idea of them mingling and learning more about the Weyr life and being a dragonrider while they swam and got away from chores for a couple of days.
If he was going to approve this trip, he was going to have to bargain with her and he’d had a lot of practice with that recently with angry men. Doing so with a young goldrider would be easy. She seemed fickle enough to just be happy with getting anything anyway so he knew he didn’t have to work hard at finding the perfect point to reach.
“I agree that some fun is needed lately and the Candidates could use a little boost after not Impressing at the last Hatching and having to deal with everything that happened during it, however, in order for me to allow this, I need two things to happen.” M’ris handed the list back to Casa, as if she really needed to see who she had invited, but he had viewed it enough to know who was, or wasn’t, on it and to make his decision.
“I know you, T’ryn, N’mor, and the three blueriders listed have all been riders around five years, give or take, however, you’re all still young. The fact that R’vi is the oldest and therefore the ‘adult’ of the group doesn’t sit well with me. I want someone that’s older, responsible, and reliable along with you. I’m willing to hear your suggestion before finding someone for you.” He knew R’vi’s reputation far too well – actually, M’ris was fairly certain he had gone to some of the twins parties in his drunken days – so he didn’t want to leave Candidates to his care. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust R’vi, he just wanted someone else who wouldn’t lead them down a path of debauchery.
“The other issue is the length of time. I’ll allow you to leave the morning of the twenty-ninth and return by nine at night on the thirtieth. Nothing longer. With the heat, I don’t want you away from the Weyr for too long.” It would be easy enough to argue they had dragons with them to call for help or bring them back if an emergency happened but M’ris was already allowing them a good thirty-six hours to have their fun and break from the Weyr. He didn’t think Casa needed longer than that to get the need for freedom out of her system. Sitting back, he waited to see what Casa might counter with.
