739.06.22 | Permission to Camp - M'ris - 22.Jun.18

M’ris looked over the list of names that Casa had given him once more. He liked that she wanted to do something with a mix of Candidates and some of the younger dragonriders to help build relations and give them a more relaxed setting to ask questions, or however it was she had worded it. He was still stressed from dealing with the fallout of the Hatching and the fact they would start running low on supplies soon due to the heatwave to fully listen to the girl.

She seemed so excited for the camping trip though and M’ris had to admit there were benefits, like she had pointed out. He suspected that the list was carefully created with the names of people Casa was friends with or were known to be fun, but it was a good enough mix that he could support the idea of them mingling and learning more about the Weyr life and being a dragonrider while they swam and got away from chores for a couple of days.

If he was going to approve this trip, he was going to have to bargain with her and he’d had a lot of practice with that recently with angry men. Doing so with a young goldrider would be easy. She seemed fickle enough to just be happy with getting anything anyway so he knew he didn’t have to work hard at finding the perfect point to reach.

“I agree that some fun is needed lately and the Candidates could use a little boost after not Impressing at the last Hatching and having to deal with everything that happened during it, however, in order for me to allow this, I need two things to happen.” M’ris handed the list back to Casa, as if she really needed to see who she had invited, but he had viewed it enough to know who was, or wasn’t, on it and to make his decision.

“I know you, T’ryn, N’mor, and the three blueriders listed have all been riders around five years, give or take, however, you’re all still young. The fact that R’vi is the oldest and therefore the ‘adult’ of the group doesn’t sit well with me. I want someone that’s older, responsible, and reliable along with you. I’m willing to hear your suggestion before finding someone for you.” He knew R’vi’s reputation far too well – actually, M’ris was fairly certain he had gone to some of the twins parties in his drunken days – so he didn’t want to leave Candidates to his care. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust R’vi, he just wanted someone else who wouldn’t lead them down a path of debauchery.

“The other issue is the length of time. I’ll allow you to leave the morning of the twenty-ninth and return by nine at night on the thirtieth. Nothing longer. With the heat, I don’t want you away from the Weyr for too long.” It would be easy enough to argue they had dragons with them to call for help or bring them back if an emergency happened but M’ris was already allowing them a good thirty-six hours to have their fun and break from the Weyr. He didn’t think Casa needed longer than that to get the need for freedom out of her system. Sitting back, he waited to see what Casa might counter with.

RE: 739.06.22 | Permission to Camp - Casa - 27.Jun.18

The first part of M’ris’ sentence had Casa beaming in delight, green eyes bright with excitement and success at getting the Weyrleader to agree to letting her and her friends go camping on one of the beaches. When he continued with a ‘however’, her smile faltered and she looked at him cautiously, but clearly willing and actively listening. The comment about R’vi being eldest had Casa blinking blankly; she hadn’t considered any of their ages (aside from making sure no one invited was a child) and hadn’t thought about who would be the eldest of the group. She frowned thoughtfully – M’ris’ requirement aside, she didn’t want R’vi getting a big head by being the eldest!

“Okay,” she said thoughtfully, chewing on her bottom lip as she considered who she knew in order to offer them up. Obviously, it couldn’t be the Weyrwoman or any of her fellow golds. They were all far too stuffy, and Casa didn’t want anyone coming along that would interfere with her plans for fun. When M’ris continued, Casa stopped pondering that problem long enough to listen to his other issue. She outright pouted at the time being cut down so dramatically – she’d asked for three whole days – but she just sighed dramatically and conceded. If the trip went well, she’d badger for more time for the next trip, her goal two nights.

“Okay,” she sighed, looking somewhat put-out and pouty though she didn’t fight M’ris and instead went back to trying to think of someone else to accompany them. It was a pity she couldn’t somehow wrangle Lord Azrin along, but Casa didn’t think that would sit well with anyone; it would raise far too many questions and besides, Azrin did not strike her as the type willing to sleep on the ground, no matter how warm the weather was! She gave a quirky little smirk before humming thoughtfully. Who? Who? Who? There was N’vian, but Casa wasn’t sure he’d agree to come and if she banked on him, M’ris might withdraw permission. He was barely older than R’vi, but he was more mature and shit?

What about your brownrider friend? Thallyath put in mildly, interrupting Casa’s thoughts rather thoroughly. Casa blinked, and tilted her head thoughtfully. Well, he did fulfil all M’ris’ requirements – older, responsible, reliable and generally thought of as ‘boring’. – Casa knew he wasn’t (she found him to be quite fun!), but he’d certainly leave them all to their own devices and read one of his books, unless he thought it would be worth interrupting. Lifting her eyebrows slightly, Casa turned her thoughtful look on M’ris. “What about brownrider K’tir?” Hopefully M’ris would think much the same of K’tir’s involvement with the group, and have no issues with him tagging along. Casa was sure the brownrider could be talked into it, and she’d be more than happy to make it worth his while! (Just the thought made her feel all hot and excited!)

RE: 739.06.22 | Permission to Camp - M'ris - 30.Jun.18

M’ris watched as Casa seemed to seriously consider what he had proposed. She seemed to actually want it bad enough to agree to his stipulations and was trying to think of someone they might both agree on. He was honestly surprised by it, having assumed she’d have a hissy fit for not getting her way. He had been told she was a rather spirited girl when she was younger and Impressing hadn’t changed that much or given her much dedication to her tasks. In truth, he often viewed her like a firelizard; pretty to look at and sometimes useful for minor purposes like delivering letters, but nothing else going for them.

Just as he was starting to think Casa wasn’t taking it seriously but instead trying to find a way to get her full request after all, she tossed out a name. He frowned slightly at her, not that he didn’t know K’tir, but knew him a bit too well and wondered if Casa did as well. M’ris had ended up in bed with the brownrider several years ago after a drunken night of revelry – probably for a Hatching—and realised that he actually enjoyed being with another man and ended up having secret hook ups with K’tir until Ista Weyr opened. M’ris had put an end to visiting the brownrider when Ameris started to become someone he wanted more in his life and found he didn’t want to do stupid things that might upset her.

It was doubtful Casa knew K’tir in such a way given the gossip said she was with T’ryn and he had seem for himself the way they held hands and the way he looked at her. It was a combination of sweet and disgusting. Besides, K’tir was rather boring outside of sex, reading or staying just outside of the fun. From what he noticed anyway but M’ris could admit he didn’t and couldn’t watch everyone at all times. Since K’tir was older than all those on the list and had been a dragonrider for… had it really been twelve years since the first Hatching since the plague? Didn’t that just add to his feeling old lately?

“Brownrider K’tir fits my requirements,” M’ris finally agreed, especially when he realised Ghaeth was chatty and had the potential to rat them all out if K’tir did help them cover up anything. He leaned back in his chair as he considered a potential issue that suddenly sprang to mind. Some of the listed were bronzeriders and while they didn’t hold any rank outside of what their dragon made them, some would still refuse to take orders from a brownrider in charge of the group. “I’ll speak with K’tir on what I expect him to do on the trip – which mostly comes down to keeping everyone alive and out of trouble. However, I want you to let everyone know that despite him being a brownrider, he is acting on my orders and will outrank everyone on this little adventure. Is that clear?” He didn’t expect any trouble out of T’ryn or even N’mor if he knew K’tir was acting in the Weyrleader’s place as their guardian but M’ris didn’t want to give any anger a chance to sprout.

RE: 739.06.22 | Permission to Camp - Casa - 27.Jul.18

Casa glowed with delight when M’ris finally agreed that K’tir would be suitable and she bounced on the balls of her feet a couple of times. Of course, that was when he spoke up again and she paused, falling forward a half step and then tilting her head, frowning. “Okay,” she shrugged, not really caring one wit who was in charge, so long as she got to run the camp her way. Which K’tir would let her do, if only because he didn’t want to do it himself. Besides, he was there to keep them alive and Casa could appreciate that. They’d also have half a wing’s worth of dragons to keep people from drowning or getting sunstroke.

They’d be fine.

If K’tir wanted to pretend to be a Weyrleader for thirty-six hours, that was his reward for tagging along. Or his M’ris-known one, anyway, since Casa had all kinds of ideas about how to reward the brownrider for being so kind as to play her game of sexual camping. The fact that M’ris himself wanted to talk to K’tir caused Casa some pause, though; she’d really have to get to the brownrider first, otherwise M’ris might be able to talk him out of it – or not encourage him to actually do it – and her camping trip would putter out before the flames were lit.

She couldn’t let that happen!

“Thank you, Weyrleader!” Casa gushed, deciding she needed to talk to K’tir a-sap if she wanted to get him on her side. Maybe throw in some sex if he needed an extra push in the right direction; she was happy to do that! “You won’t regret this!” Okay, so he might, if someone blabbed what was going to happen down on the beach, or told too many tales when they got back. The grape-vine was pretty bad for that, but on the whole, so long as no one died, Casa didn’t really think M’ris would care if his younger dragonriders were taking off on beach-side camping trips to have orgies.

After all, it would mean they weren’t anywhere near the Weyr for his kids to stumble across!
