And B’jin was a fat little lump, and look at the amazing dragon he got! Larrikith put in, causing B’jin to frown irritably at her. The dragon was amused, however, and B’jin’s sour moods rarely got her down. Cheerful colours flickered through her eyes as she watched Bordtai, A dragon doesn’t care about your size, and I’ve met far stupider than you with a dragon attached! She sorted, clearly less than impressed by the odd matches she had seen in her time. B’jin rolled his eyes and smiled at Bordtai.

“Don’t listen to the other kids. They just say that to try and make themselves feel better about their own chances.” B’jin leaned forward with a teasing smile, his voice lowering conspiringly as he whispered, “A quality dragonet would choose a dimglow over a bully any day.” A pause as he leaned back again, watching Bordtai carefully. “Do you know why?” He didn’t really wait for an answer, though he did pause long enough for Bordtai to respond if he wanted to. “Because a quality dragonet will always pick someone with a quirky nature, or interesting personality, or a good sense of humour. A bully will still Impress, true, but they won’t Impress anything you would want, so don’t you worry about them.”

A wide grin spread across B’jin’s lips at Bordtai’s eager acceptance of his offer for Larrikith to ‘Search’ him, and the greenrider looked at his dragon with a tilted head to see what she thought of the boy. Larrikith gave a soft snort, and leaned her head forward, snuffling the boy’s face playfully with warm breath before pulling back. Hrm! Her tone was clearly playful as she tilted her own head, studying Bordtai with one serious, multi-faceted eye as she considered him. Her mind brushed gently against the edges of his own, watching the way the boy reacted to her presence before poking around lightly. Such an interesting child!

I think brown, she mumbled to both child and rider, ignoring the way B’jin’s emotions spiked at the thought and brown eyes widened slightly as he looked at her in surprise. But he’s so sweet! A brown? B’jin, ever a great hater of brown dragons, wasn’t quite able to picture such a bond himself, and he turned to look at Bordtai with knit brows as he tried to imagine it. The child was just too placid for such a horrible, nasty piece of work like a brown! Definitely not green, and you seem wrong for a blue. The dragon gave a physical shrug as she withdrew her mind from where she’d been poking around in Bordtai’s though she still touched on the edge in order to speak clearly to him.

B’jin pet her nose with light fingers as she turned to rest her head on his lap once more, and he threw a wink at Bordtai. “You won’t always be the smallest, then.” He teased, hiding his own discomfort at the idea of such a gentle child bonding to what he considered a terrible, awful colour, “But you may be waiting longer than the other ‘brats. Not many browns have been clutched.” More than the bronze and gold, but not nearly enough to keep up their assumed ratio; hopefully that would change as the turns rolled by – and the boy was young!
