A smile immediately wove over B’jin’s lips at the swift answer that came from the boy before him. It was a good answer, and B’jin’s pleased expression said as much. He outright laughed at the mentioning of Grith, brown eyes sparkling with mirth. Even B’jin could hear Grith without the dragon even trying, and the greenrider was notorious for his thick skull and difficulty in hearing dragons other than his own, though he’d had trouble hearing even her way back when!
“Yes, respect for the quiet is nice.” His smile never faded, petting Larrikith’s face and neck as she shifted to sprawl out inelegantly on the ground, the dragon huffing out a deep sigh as she closed her eyes. Her head taking up a great deal of B’jin’s lap, she snuggled closer and watched Bordtai lazily through mostly lidded eyes. Quiet was good, and Larrikith enjoyed the silence as much as she enjoyed it when B’jin filled it with the soft music from his guitar, or absent-minded singing. He didn’t do the latter much, but that only made it the more enjoyable when he did!
“I am,” B’jin agreed with not some small amount of caution. It wasn’t that he was worried so much about Bordtai, but a lot of the folk at Katila did not hold Searchriders in high regard, and it was generally better to pretend one was not a Searcher. B’jin had always loved Searching before the plague. For one, he was good at it, really good at it. But more, as much as he had never wanted to be a dragonrider, it had always been amazing and wonderful to change the lives of those that did. Searching for Katila was shameful and B’jin hated it. It was why he had taken so long to agree to do Searches, and why he had only brought back one Candidate every three to six months.
Of course, two of those were now goldriders, a bronzerider, a brownrider, and he had no doubt that Jisralna would make gold too – possibly even in the upcoming clutch! Krypth had just flown, and if there was even a chance of a gold egg being present, B’jin was quite positive that his candidate would snatch it. Then he would have three goldriders - In a row. Now, that was something to be proud of!
Of course you do. Larrikith answered Bordtai’s question, bringing B’jin out of his egotistical thoughts to blink at Bordtai and then frown slightly, “why would you think otherwise?” he asked, after Larrikith had been kind enough to tell him what it was Bordtai had even asked. He’d gotten rather wrapped up for a moment then! A slight smile touched B’jin’s lips, and he winked at Bordtai. “It isn’t a question of having a chance, kiddo. You’re a Weyrbrat, you were born with a chance to Impress. It’s a question of how good your chances are.”
Pausing, B’jin leaned forward and smiled invitingly at Bordtai. “Even though she’s just a green,” B’jin began, pausing to allow for Larrikith’s requiredI am so much more than just a green! to be relayed to both humans, “she is the best Search dragon that was ever Hatched! She Searched Lady Jada, and Lady Kahleena, as well as the bronzerider Allendris, and brownrider Talian! Before,” B’jin stressed the word, rather than elaborating on what ‘before’ was, “she searched many others.”
B’jin paused again, and tilted his head as Larrikith slowly lifted her’s from his lap to stare thoughtfully at Bordtai. “Would you like to know what she thinks of you, Bordtai?” It was an open invitation, and B’jin’s gentle smile let Bordtai know he could decline if he didn’t wish to know what the little green dragon thought of him.
OOC; sorry for taking forever, dear :/
