Talian dutifully wrote down his observations as Sanderon spoke. He was careful to write down the exact words the other young man used, along with his own notes in shorthand off to the side. He nodded quietly as he worked, occasionally glancing to Sanderon to assure him that he was paying attention.
The fact that Sanderon said anything positive at all about his searchrider was a good sign. It meant he was, on some level, accepting of what was happening. Tal understood that one for sure; it struck a deep personal note, but he rudely shoved his own sentiments aside. He felt like a traitor writing such things, but he didn't want to think about what would happen if he refused. He hadn't used the word 'ordered' instead of 'asked' for no reason.
The personal notes were surprisingly good as well. Crying showed not only an acceptance of his own emotions, but the ability to express them; something Talian remembered lacking for the longest time. He couldn't help but smile just a little bit.
Ah, and an inquiry about the well-being of another. Good. "Lymsleia is fine," Talian commented quickly. "Her voice was strained by the pressure, but a couple days' rest and some relaxants helped her get over it fairly quickly. There's been no permanent damage," he said.
He made a couple more notes. Missing sleep wasn't good, and once again it was a symptom that he was intimately familiar with.
"Is there anything specific you can tell me about your thoughts over the past week? Any.." He paused and pursed his lips, embarrassed. "...Any suicidal thoughts or tendencies? Violent impulses?"
