Talian always had been an early riser. By the time he heard the young woman's voice echoing through the still hall, he was on his second pamphlet and third mug of klah. He stuck his head out of his office and arched a brow, wondering both who would call out in such a way so early in the morning and why no one had gone to greet her. The young man's nostrils flared as he exhaled, but within moments he was walking towards the calls at a brisk pace, answering nonetheless.
"Hello?" he called as he entered the lobby. He was a thin young man, fragile in appearance even when he tried to look forceful. Right now, he was little more than a quiet and unassuming wisp, young features expressionless outside of a hint of curiosity. "Can I help you?"
Normally there would be someone to greet patients at the door. B'jin called her 'the wherry', but it seemed that she was away at breakfast or something for the time being. Tal didn't think the heavyset woman was so bad, just a little bit protective. Of course, 'protective' had once kept B'jin away from his bedridden fosterling, so Tal figured he could pardon the bias.
He managed a thin smile for Sasha. There had always been a certain timidity about Talian, but his warm bedside manner wasn't hampered by it. Healing was responsible for keeping him on his feet in this terrible place, and had lately been the only outlet he had to avoid thinking about J'ver. Of course, his fellow healers had picked up on the shift in his demeanor, the increased focus and decreased concern for anything and everything not related to his job. Dispassion.
Anything was a distraction. This was no different. "If you need a healer, I'm taking patients. Right this way, please." He turned and walked towards his office, occasionally glancing over his shoulder to be sure she was following.
