This was a nosy one but Orgailian also got the impression that it was approving of his activities as well. Until it found out about his writing and he gave a mental eye roll. It was interesting to see where people fell when they learned he liked to write the occasional story. Some assumed he wrote erotic while others hoped he did or didn't write romance. He liked writing little adventures but he just wasn't convincing when he tried adding in a romantic subplot. The fact this dragonet figured out he wasn't very romantic in general without diving that deep was also amusing but maybe a little disappointing as well, especially when it gave him a little nudge of encouragement showing it believed in him to try again and succeed.
It got his hopes up. Not about his writing skills but maybe this was his dragon and Orgailian hated that. He didn't typically lack confidence but Impressing wasn't something he could control. He entered every Hatching with a small dash of hope that that would be the where a dragon wanted him but only enough to make sure he attended. Too much hope meant he'd be crushed at the end when he walked away alone instead of being able to shrug it off as no big deal.
"Damnit," he growled softly to himself. What was he supposed to do now? He actually kind of wanted this to be his mate. They could work well together and Orgailian liked the approval and belief in him. It wasn't like he lacked that already when his siblings were just as nosy and insistent that they always be there for him but it wasn't the same thing. One could almost argue that being related meant they were obligated.
Fuck it. He was done for this Touching. He was going to end on a good note even if it was going to ruin his day in a week. Egg 17. Maybe he could have a little more hope than usual but just a little. As Orgailian walked off the Sands, he convinced himself that that particular egg-dweller was an eternal optimist like Zor and gave such connections to everyone. It wasn't going to hurt when that dragon bonded to someone else, damnit!
