The tears were surprising, and for a moment Geric wasn't sure what to do if anything. Her explanation made sense, and he frowned to hear that so many people she knew had been affected by such dreadful business. "Is there something... uh... I don't want to sound rude but special about your family? Do you have any rich relatives? Holdings or some sort of political reach? I didn't think the murders were so wide spread... at least from the raw numbers I'd seen." He frowned, rubbing his neck. "I'm not trying to make what happened insignificant, it just.... it seems too much for coincidence, though I guess that's possible."
Gangleri's quick comment about having some administrative things to handle distracted him and he very calmly asked, "Oh? I can help you proofread if you want." It seemed a very odd time to try to get into any sort of wet work, but sometimes those sorts of things couldn't wait. Either way he was relieved when his brother declined his offer to help and instead just directed him to distract Mylorah. He turned back to her and beckoned for her to follow. "I can show you the back stage are if you want, where they store a lot of the props. We might be able to run into a few actors back there too before they get to the party."
He resisted the urge to see who it was his brother was headed towards, and instead decided to just try and talk a bit more to try and be a more effective distraction. "Gangleri tried to get me into one of his plays when I was younger. It was a lot of fun, until I realized our dad was watching and I panicked and fainted on stage. I haven't been in a performance since, though sometimes I still help him teach younger actors. But it's fine, I like making books more anyway. What about you? Do you have anything you like to do or make?"
