“I know you didn’t but I wouldn’t care if you did,” Mylorah tried to reassure Geric and found that it wasn’t working. He was definitely moving into a full blown panic attack. Her next instinct was to touch him, soothe him, but she didn’t think he’d appreciate it so she did the opposite by standing and giving him a little space while still saying she wasn’t offended and apologizing for giving him a list of words to use. But was he even listening anymore? It was getting worse and Mylorah didn’t know if it was still because of the names or because she knew he was writing to Lord Igen.
And then he was on the ground and she gasped, hand covering her mouth to keep from screaming. She probably should have called for Gangleri but Mylorah was too afraid a blood curdling scream would escape instead. Orgailian had dropped and started vomiting blood in front of her not too long ago. T’ryn had to watch Parella die. Cazan watched T’ryn fall unconscious. What if it wasn’t just panicking but she’d somehow brought the attacks with her and Geric had been poisoned? When Gangleri came in and she babbled she didn’t do it, she knew she was being silly and close to panicking herself. She hadn’t even tried to help Geric! But seeing the Master Harper so calmly tend to his brother and say it used to happen regularly calmed her and she helped when she was told to.
Mylorah nodded at the explanation, though Gangleri was still focused on Geric and trying to rouse him. “I interrupted his letter writing and he panicked and sent that pretty blue firelizard off with it,” she started as way of confession while moving to Geric’s feet. Jab the bottom of his foot? She shrugged and gave it whirl as she continued, “but I called him out on his hesitation to find the right label for me. He went with me being your ‘friend’ and I said Holders were small-minded and gave him a list of other titles he could use for me. He latched onto ‘whore’ and freaked out that he didn’t call me that.” She sighed and jabbed Geric’s foot again, this time a bit harder since the first one didn’t seem to do anything.
“He didn’t insult me, I swear!” Mylorah suddenly felt an urge to protect Geric. It was her fault he’d fainted and she didn’t want Gangleri angry with him over that or any misconceived slights. Feeling horrible for what she had caused, she took a few steps back. It probably wouldn’t be good for Geric to see her right away.
