S'far was lazily lounging in his hammock, fishing line propped up nearby with a tiny bell hanging on the end of his rod to let him know if he needed to suddenly pay attention. He'd found a nice little clearing with a nice little creek to set up camp in for his short little jaunt, it wasn't something he could do very often, but he'd allowed himself two days to get away from the Weyr and had left it in capable (if terribly anxious) hands. Besides, neither of the young bronzeriders would get any real practice and experience if he didn't abandon them now and then!
The blissful sounds of nature, the singing birds, the babbling creek, and breeze blowing through the trees, were all suddenly interrupted by a very loud and obnoxious sigh. S'far did his best to ignore the bronze beast lounging nearby only to have the sound repeated following by the flick of an irritated tail that smacked his hammock. He let out his own sigh. Yes, old man?I do not like coming all this way only to be interrupted. S'far blinked his eyes open and turned to give his dragon a frown. "What are you going on-"
The squeal of an enraged boar cut off his question. "Ah... well. Hopefully whoever it is will be done soon." If it had been anything dangerous like a predator, Urudith would have been much more clear with his warning. This was probably just some hunter or a squabble between boars, and since it sounded like a single animal, he imagined it was a hunter. He was fine to leave it be and tend to his own business. At least the squealing didn't last too much longer and he settled back into his hammock again. He was just about to doze off when another irritated tail flick thwapped him.
Before he could demand any answers this time there was another loud screech, this time from a wherry. S'far grumbled and with a flail of his limbs got out of his hammock. There was just too much carrying on with something or someone crashing in the brush and that damn wherry. With his hunting bow slung over his shoulder, and his knife tucked into his belt, he left the clearing to head deeper into the woods towards where he had heard the commotion.
"Probably just some damn kids, making a racket for no reason, scaring off all my fish," he grumbled to himself as he moved along until he found a good trail. At least he saw the boy responsible he was pretty sure. "Hey!" His voice trailed off for a moment as he frowned and rushed forward in time to catch the boy as he stumbled and began to fall. "Okay, sport, let's get you back to camp then and take a look at you. How are you feeling? Were you hunting alone out here?" The small jingle of the bell on his fishing pole made him curse. "Fucking, of course!" He sighed and shook his head. "You need to learn to hunt a bit more quietly. Maybe I'll teach you a trick or two, but for now let's just get you back, set you down, and patch you up. Sound good?"
Hopefully it sounded good and the boy wasn't in shock or anything. As soon as he got back to the clearing S'far sat the boy down on the ground and rushed to his tent to grab his supplies.
