The young man hid his eyes in shame. He rarely cried, even with emotions as wild and unpredictable as his own, but he'd been holding this in ever since his arrival. He distinctly remembered his first night on the isle, bitterly swallowing his tears lest the other captives hear him and try to console him. He didn't want their company, he just wanted to be left alone. It was the same the next night, and the next night...
He couldn't hold it in anymore! He hid his face just the same, as if seeing him cry would be a victory for B'jin. Of course he didn't see the greenrider move. Of course he didn't notice until it was too late...
He gasped when he felt B'jin's strong arms close around him. The little healer produced a squeak and began to struggle, fearing the worst for a few moments. Try as he might, though, he quickly realized it was hopeless. He fell still and tensed up for a few long seconds before finally relaxing.
Perhaps it was B'jin's gentle grip or his soft words, but something grabbed hold of the boy. Instinctively, he threw his arms around B'jin and squeezed tightly, burying his face in the man's shoulder to muffle his sobs. It felt strange and wrong, to cry on the shoulder of the man responsible for all his problems, but it was the only thing he knew to do. He was alone here. He had no friends, no family, nothing...B'jin was literally the only person he had, and in a screwed up way, he needed him. He needed anyone.
