Talian was truly opposite to B'jin. He was timid, used to being treated like a diagnosis machine and little else. He was from a reserved family and studied under dour teachers, his exposure to outgoing sorts like harpers limited. He really didn't know what to make of people with, as B'jin figured it, no boundries.
Ah, there it was. He narrowed his eyes a bit as B'jin informed him of the order. That alone was enough to agitate him, but wasn't nearly bold enough to act on it. He just inched away. It was a test to see if B'jin would inch after him. Maybe, if he was lucky, he could wiggle his way out of this conversation before it dragged on to long. Maybe the damn greenrider would take a hint. Not likely, though, if he was ordered by a superior to watch me... he thought unfavorably.
He started to scoot a bit further back, but he noticed B'jin's readied stance, obviously poised to grab him if he tried to escape. Unwilling to put up with that particular humiliation, he visibly gave in.
Now B'jin claimed that he wanted to hang around. Talian couldn't fathom why. If the greenrider was actually sorry, he wouldn't be doing things like that in the first place! "I don't believe you," he replied truthfully, nervously seating himself on the nearest bench, since he obviously wasn't going anywhere. "But I guess you aren't going to leave me alone, are you? What do you want, then?" It was just how his brain worked. If someone was taking the time to talk with him, they probably wanted something.
