Talian stopped abruptly when he felt B'jin's fingers brushing his shoulder. He practically cringed, though more out of his own tendencies than because B'jin had hurt or actually frightened him. Every inch of him swelled with dread he he turned around to face the greenrider, his eyes habitually locking with B'jin's.
It was hard to know what to say. B'jins was apologizing to him, and by all appearances, there was at least some emotion wrapped up in his words. Far too cowed by dragonmen to dare pull away, Talian just shrunk back far enough to be out of touch-range and stood there, his eyes widening suspiciously.
"So," he said in his sweet voice, "Who told you to say that?" It wasn't sarcasm or even necessarily spite, just a very direct question. He almost hesitated, as some part of him wanted to be wrong...but he'd heard those words before. People always tried to smooth things like this over. He couldn't imagine any other reason B'jin would be here.
If the greenrider actually had any real remorse, it wouldn't make sense for him to be doing this sort of thing to people to begin with. Talian supposed that someone could have ordered B'jin to kidnap people, but if that was the case, would B'jin have been so cheerful about the situation to begin with? The bastard was all smiles when they arrived at the island that day.
"...Why are you still bothering me? You've done quite enough," Talian added, almost whimpering in a failed attempt to be aggressive. He just didn't have it in him.
