A'tay had been in bed several hours when the news came in of the Benden Hatching. Xyxyth eagerly woke him up and A'tay eagerly ignored him, trying to burrow under his pillow to escape the enthusiasm. But after a few minutes and his mind waking up a bit more, the enthusiasm caught him as well. A Hatching! Who cared what time it was, he had to go see his siblings and Zelly! He had seen all of them only days ago after hearing of the latest poisoning. Mylorah had been sick but was doing better than some of the other girls. He knew Katiryn but had never been as close to her as some of his siblings and shared friends but it still hurt to learn of the news and see his sister try to deal with it while pretending she was fine for everyone else.
Zelly also seemed a bit out of it, understandably. She had avoided being poisoned again thanks to Orgailian inviting her to the library. He owed his brother for inadvertently saving Zelana since from what he had heard, another dosing might not be as easily overcome. But this would be a happier event, as strained as it could be with the missing faces. So he couldn't miss it in case any of them Impressed.
He quickly dressed, fought with his hair--there was a definite downside to keeping it so long, and then took his time gearing up Xyxyth. He never rushed that, paying careful attention to the straps being buckled and secured. Once his dancing dragon was ready to go, A'tay put on his own riding gear and headed out with a detour down to see the Weyrwoman. Casa couldn't travel with Thallyath on the Sands and he was certain she would have sent any official word with the Weyrleader or someone else but he wanted to see if she had any notes for their siblings or friends on a more casual level.
Once that task was complete and he left with his face red and hot--why did she have no shame and still wore next to nothing when talking to him?--Xyxyth brought them to Benden Weyr. A'tay found a spot easily enough and spotted Mylorah but no one else. That was a little worrying but Zelly soon arrived with Orgailian a bit after that. Zoremet finally made his appearance looking groggy and ready to make a bed right there beside the eggs. He chuckled to himself at the thought but frowned when he saw Zelly keeping her distance from Mylorah. What was going on there? Did they get into a fight? It seemed unlikely but it had been a tense and bad week so maybe not as unlikely as it normally would be.
He would ask Zelly about it later since in front of so many people wasn't the time. The dragonets didn't seem to think so either when one eventually made his debut and A'tay relaxed a bit at seeing the bronze hide. That was a sign of good luck!
