It took entirely too long for Malvayth to calm down enough that Cazan felt she could breathe again. The gold had started to carefully gather her eggs back together, setting them near their broken and dead sibling so she could curl protectively around them all and wail pitifully. It would have been heartbreaking enough if it hadn't happened to her own dragon, and Cazan was having trouble trying to keep herself together. She should at least check on the candidates, she was a gold rider and that seemed like it was part of her job.
At least most of them had gone, and it didn't seem like too many had been hurt. She could feel a flash of anger as she saw one of them being helped away by a healer and T'ryn's sister Mylorah, but she wasn't sure if the emotion was her own or Mal's. It wouldn't help anything to be angry right now. She thought she heard her name being hissed and she turned around, realizing that her brother was missing. That sent her into a different sort of panic as she rushed back to where he'd been, looking around and finding him trembling on the ground.
"Caze..." she reached down for him, at first intent on helping him stand, but instead just settling down next to him as she gave him a tight squeeze. She wanted to tell him things were okay, except they weren't. Mal had lost a baby and it was hitting her almost as hard as it was her dragon. Cazan sniffled and pulled back just enough to rub her eyes on her sleeve. "It's safe now... you're safe... but we should leave her alone right now. Malvayth is... not in a good mood." She didn't bother moving yet though, still clinging to her brother to keep herself from starting to shake.
