Narinoa wanted to be patient but he only had two years left to Impress if that’s what he wanted. It used to be and it probably still was but he wanted to help dragons in general now. But maybe he needed his own dragon to do that. What if he didn’t Impress and the Weyrs saw that as a sign that he shouldn’t be near dragons at all and denied his help? He knew that didn’t make sense with how many non-riders were in the Weyrs, including healers that hadn’t accidentally Impressed along the way.
He walked several steps away from the egg, lost in thought. He then took a few steps away from the clutch where he crouched down, still thinking as he stared at the eggs. He’d already ended his path in the beastcraft by going to the Weyr and Narinoa wanted to stay where he was now and assist with dragons however he could. But what was the right path and did he even have a say in it? The dragon chose the rider after all. The only thing he could really do was continue Standing when he could and studying the remainder of the time. If he had a dragon by the time he aged out, then excellent! If he didn’t… he’d have to go from there.
He thought about going for another egg but still needed a few minutes to sort through everything as he didn’t want to bog down the next little guy he met. So he stayed crouched just off from the clutch, lazily watching the eggs and aware of people moving around but not giving them any mind.
