Xyxyth sniffed at the tiny offering held before him but A’tay was quicker. “Um, maybe we shouldn’t be trying random things we find at the beach?” He chuckled nervously and Xyxyth sat back before he could dart his tongue out and try it anyway. A’tay gave him an odd look like he couldn’t believe the dragon was about to randomly try something but, then again, the dragon had always been curious. “Besides, you would need a lot larger portion for Xyxyth to really taste it anyway.” He didn’t want to be mean to Kalea or have her think he was scolding her. He was just worried for all of them.
“I bet if you talk to someone in the kitchens they would know more about the creatures you find and how to cook some of them. Maybe even tell you if there are types to avoid, like with plants.” Growing up in Katila, they had all been taught at a young age what plants were edible and which ones to avoid because they were poisonous to the touch or to eat. One of them had tempting berries and they were always reminding each other to avoid it.
“Did you want to collect some and bring back to ask about? You can use my bag,” it only had a couple of items in it that could easily be shoved into pockets or worn to clear it out for the creatures that got collected. He hadn’t seen Stew that clearly but A’tay was pretty sure if he was put in the bag, he didn’t want anything worth keeping in it as well. Maybe he’d just let her keep the bag for her beach adventures.
