Two greens made their appearances, nearly stealing the spotlight from the little blue that made his way toward the redhead. She watched him make his way toward her before he stopped and stared for a moment. Smiling, she made it a point to allow her emotions to just be, hoping the blue would find something in her mind and heart that he liked. But no…no. He blinked, clocking his head to one side, and deciding she wasn’t quite right, moved off the way he came.
It was like a punch to the gut. She wanted to chase after him, but knew that wasn’t how things worked. Frustrated and disappointed, she chewed at the inside of her cheek, biting down until, in some sense of morbid satisfaction, she tasted the metallic taste of blood. She blinked back the tears that threatened to spill, watching the hatchling as he found his life mate across the ring of candidates. To be so close… There would be more, though. She prepared herself, too, that her dragon might not be in this clutch. She had a long while before she grew too old to stand, and therefore had a long while to find her life mate. The tears came again, though now in happiness as she watched as Impression was made. There was no sense in holding onto bitterness. Any negative thoughts could very well turn away her dragon, if she or he were here.
There was a cacophony as a number of greens hatched all at once, shrieking and chittering, noisily starting to wander among the candidates until they found their bonded. She sidestepped out of the way as one came close, querulously chirping as she moved determinedly past to a young man behind her. A domino act of various eggs sent a few hatchlings into a bit of a tiff, and she moved to be there to help, if the need arose, but they all found their humans without issue. There seemed to be some sort of commotion outside, as a number of the healers on call and stationed around the sands rushed out of the cavern. She hoped all was well… More eggs rocked, though, and she returned her attention to the event at hand.
