There wasn’t much time between the last Impression and the next breaking of shell. These babies clearly had places to go and people to see! Green06 came from Egg 8, tripping over her feet a few times on her trot to her bonded while Green07 had a bit more struggle from Egg 13 before finding her way out.
Egg 1 was the next to find freedom, shell pieces falling fromBlue04 as he shook himself off. He went off toward Aederyn before stopping, cocking his head, and then turning back the way he came so he could go to the opposite side of the ring of Candidates, Impressing to a man.
What happened next, Rhaedalyn wouldn’t believe if she hadn’t witnessed it herself. Many Hatchings could go quickly with dragonets bursting free at nearly the same time or in rapid succession but this time, she swore they were all at the same time. It even took her a moment to count how many were now roaming the Sands asseven greens scattered in every direction. A lone male stood in the middle of it all as Bronze02 quietly surveyed the chaos, as if waiting for the sand to settle before moving to his mate.
The greens were all over the place, sniffing at a Candidate before moving on. Some had clearly bonded already with the way some impatient boys crossed their arms or rolled their eyes while trying to get their new bundle of joy under control. Amidst the chaos, Rhaedalyn saw a few Candidates panicking and falling but they were given thumbs up when a healer rushed out to check on them. No injuries, just tripping over themselves. She couldn’t blame them, not when injuries were common with so many hatchlings loose at once.
It took a few minutes of organizing on the back end, the harpers logging the Hatching having a fit over the mess of their notes and which ones hatched first or Impressed first. Rhaedalyn knew the bronze was somewhere in the middle of it, having watched the way he stared intently at one specific boy until the boy finally sighed and waved for the hatchling to follow him.
But with seven greens out at once, it was loud. They had chirped in excitement and their mind voices were just as loud as they talked over one another during their Impressions and greeting various Candidates on their way off to eat and get cleaned up.
A few more eggs were rattling but Rhaedalyn let out a deep breath as it seemed like they would have at least a few minutes to relax after that. She patted Aradissicath’s leg, still amused at the amount of greens that had already appeared but there were also two bronzes! She hoped for at least one more—two if she wanted to be greedy.
