Madelan was eating in the dining hall with E'rid and L'tri when the call came for the candidates to make their way to the caverns. He didn't rush, placing an open mouth kiss against E'rid's mouth as he winked at the bluerider across the table before sauntering away. Madelan would have to figure out what to do about those two before too long. If the plans he wanted for himself came to fruition neither of them would be necessary for too much longer. But it was damn good fun while it lasted.
Robes on and feet shoved into well-made boots Mads made his way to the hatching sands where he waited with the rest. He chuckled when a trio of greens broke shell followed by bronze. He straightened, knowing exactly what he wanted for himself and as if Madelan could will the creature to him he stared hard. But it wasn't to be and the solid bronze went to another man. Damnation, he thought to himself and watched as another green followed by a quartet of blues made their way to their bondeds.
He smirked as a brown showed up. He supposed that if he couldn't have a bronze, brown could do just as well, but he knew the likelihood of becoming a weyrleader on brown was slim. He sighed heavily as the fierce-looking fellow and another green managed to find their boys without some much as a by your leave. Was he going to be left stands again today? E'rid had assured him that he would impress when he'd been searched but perhaps the greenrider was more interested in the things Mads could do for him instead of the truth.
Another blue and a brown went to two other men, Mads face schooled to arrogant lines as he tapped a toe against the sands.
