Landen stuffed the rest of his dinner in his mouth as soon as the call for candidates came through the dining hall. Why waste a good thing? Was his only thought as his check bulged with his food. There might have been an excited bounce to his usually languid and slow step as he darted through the barrack to stuff his body in robes and feet into sturdy boots. It didn't take him long to reach the hatching cavern and he glanced around at the rest of the candidates. So far so good and not a single egg had cracked before he'd had a chance at reaching the sands and Landen took a relaxed position with the rest.
He'd already made Pie fly up to the ledges with the dragons and didn't have to worry about keeping the blue from becoming a snack for Arradissicath. He grinned at Malvayth as the little gold seemed to be extra excitable. What kind of crazy would it be if her eggs suddenly started popping tops? But Landen knew they weren't quite ready. From what he understood in a few week's time they should be hard enough and ready enough to start cracking shell.
He bounced a little on his toes as he waited.
