As pleased at her returning the kiss and eager as he was for more, he held back somewhat, not out of any kind of second thoughts or regret, but because he knew, somehow, that there would be more time and more opportunities to taste what she had to offer.
Taking the moment to allow her the freedom to explore at her own pace, he reveled in the sensation, lips parted to allow her access if she chose and gently prodding for her to do the same. The break for air came because it was needed more than wanted, and when she pulled him down to meet her in a second, sweet and delicate kiss he had a hard time breaking away.
“Mmmm...” his voice took on a husky, gravelly quality as he smiled against her neck. “You drive a hard bargain...” he paused to plant a kiss below her ear. “But I think that can be arranged.”
Slipping his arm beneath her cloak, he held her to him, taking her other hand from where it rested at his neck and holding it between them against his chest, slowly starting to sway and rock to the lazy tune that could just barely be heard over the sounds of the Gather.
He peppered their dance with several more faint kisses to her temple and hair, closing his eyes and only occasionally opening them to make sure he didn’t run them into anything. When the last notes of the song dissipated, he sought her gaze again. “Have we reached an agreement? Or shall I find some bubbly pies to sweeten the deal? I don’t want to keep you from your business—well, I sort-of do…”
