Rhaedalyn was still worried about the commotion the latest gold had caused (and wasn't really a fan that both baby golds had made a scene in their own way, knowing how much people loved to gossip) but she didn't have time to go check on it herself or watch any further as the last of the eggs looked ready to debut as well.
Green17 shook herself off and quickly made her way to her mate as Blue13 popped his head out of his egg. He looked around like he just woke up and was taking stock of everything around him. Finally, he nodded as if he approved and knocked the egg over so he could finish crawling out. The struggle was worth it, however, as a boy came forward and crouched down to wait for his mate to come to him and greet him with open arms.
Silence befell the clutch, something that she did mind when it was the last handful of eggs. Duds weren't uncommon, even for Aradissicath, but Rhaedalyn still hated seeing them sitting there, unmoving. These eggs, however, had been as active as the others and still were, which gave her hope despite the bit of downtime.
What happened next, she still wouldn't believe later that night.
Brown04 emerged first and looked startled that he had. He was another sturdy boy and didn't move from the piece of shell he sat on as he watched the remaining four eggs that looked like they were about to explode. And explode they did. Almost simultaneously Green18 , Green19 , Green20 , and Green21 burst onto the scene. They seemed to consider each other for a moment and without communicating—since they all would have heard it—it seemed like they decided the same thing.
Soon a race was on as all four greens scattered in almost every direction as they went searching for their mates. Some girls squealed with delight and possibly fright as one came their way again but ended up bypassing them while a sister came to a screeching stop in front of her mate and fell back on her bum. The other two were a bit calmer in their zooming to their mates but eventually all four were happily with their boys andBrown04 still sat where he was.
Rhaedalyn was worried for a moment until she realised the chubby fellow was amused and seemed to be laughing at the sight of his sisters. She smiled when he looked over to a group of boys and stared one of them down, as if saying ‘wasn’t that great?’ and possibly a ‘why are you still standing there?’ since the hatchling didn’t seem inclined to go to him.
