R’dal went from excited to afraid in seconds. The earthquake was just as triggering for him as it was to others he could see near him but he shoved that all aside to look for Dimarna and Ferra. He had friends out there but he felt more protective over those two since his sister was, well his sister and younger, and this was Ferra’s first Hatching. He saw Mylorah tend to them and that helped relieve some of his stress but he still couldn’t stop worrying for the Candidates out there or the scared hatchlings.
And then he saw Quinvalis go down beneath a blue dragonet. R’dal held his breath and glanced at F’drel who seemed ready to lose his mind over everything happening. As the dragonet finally moved on and Impressed, R’dal sat there staring at Quinvalis, silently urging him to move. He saw the way the arms fell and how the boy didn’t move again after that. He refused to believe anything other than passing out from the pain but what if…
No!
Quinvalis was one of the kindest people he knew. He wasn’t allowed to leave them!
R’dal started softly crying and he felt a hand on his shoulder to give some sort of comfort but he wasn’t sure if it was R’dare or Aederyn as he refused to look up away from the Healers moving Quinvalis. Rhaedalyn and R’nya either hadn’t realised who the victim was or they knew he was fine since neither ran to him so he held onto that. Quinvalis would be fine, he chanted over and over and blindly reached out to take F’drel’s hand. The greenrider had befriended the boy on his own and R’dal felt that made the friendship even stronger since he hadn’t been the one to introduce them and practically push a friend on F’drel. Their sisters were safe but a friend may not have been and R’dal didn’t know what to do.
