Mizeath had been right. Watching a hatch that was normal and healthy was doing wonders for her. Fingers still threaded with M'ris' she watched everything with shining eyes. It boded well for Mizeath's clutch that Aradissicath's was well. Dragonets were impressing correctly and not a single issue was seen. But truly, good things were always too good to be true and it was proven by the low rumbling of the ground. She gasped, hand tightening around M'ris' and every terrible memory of the night half of Katila was destroyed was brought the surface. Breath was ragged and her heartbeat far too fast and Ameris could feel the attempts to sooth from Mizeath.
She very nearly came out of her seat as a couple of eggs tumbled to the ground. Dragonets were startled enough to go between and the beginnings of keens could be heard. Too much like that night and her breathing was harsh. The only that kept her in her seat was the need to be calm and collected. She prided herself on it, on not losing her cool under pressure but the quaking of the earth almost made her screech.Breath, my heart, just breath, the gold told her over so much distance that Ameris felt she would never get back to her. But she did as she was bid and breathed.
For all the rumbling only three dragonets betweened and one boy injured by a blue. "That was close," she whispered in an attempt to regain her composure. As long as the only person who could hear her rapid breathing was M'ris she was fine. She loosened her hold on him and settled deeper in her seat. She blinked quickly, clearing any tears that might have formed out of her eyes. She cleared her throat and coughed a little. She was fine. They were fine. There was no mud and barely any damage, nothing was amiss. She would be fine and she forced a smile on her face as she faced the hatching once more.
