So much was happening at once, which was pretty normal for a Hatching but at least this one wasn’t of the chaotic variety. Just some excited babies finding their mates and Mylorah could get behind that. She always winced when one of the dragonets tripped but it warmed her heart when their mate would rush out to help them. Like that really pale—she was assuming—blue that went face first into the sand. Poor fella only—
Holy shit.
Was that Kordiavis going to it?
Holy shit, it was!
She knew he was kind-hearted underneath the attitude but she also knew he wouldn’t willingly help a dragonet given his stance on how horrible Hatchings were. That meant that he had to have Impressed! Mylorah placed both hands over her mouth to keep from squealing with excitement and she wanted to run to him and hug him and congratulate him but she knew that wasn’t appropriate either. It would have to wait for later but she really wanted to meet the dragon that saw what she saw in the man.
After watching them walk off, Mylorah turned her gaze to the stands where she knew T’ryn and Tazikel were and sent them a mixture of glee and a confused ‘what the fuck’ expression. She had hoped he would Impress but it wasn’t always hard to keep that alive with his attitude on the whole thing but to have a dragon find him now when she suspected this would have been his last Hatching was simply perfect. It also sucked because if she didn’t Impress, they would be in different Weyrs and he’d be off the market for a while. Another glance a Tazikel and Mylorah wondered if he was aware of that restriction and how the news would affect him.
She didn’t have long to think on that or their lovely time in Tillek because a gold had emerged. Mylorah honestly didn’t care which colour chose her but still she tensed a bit as golds always held more of a guarantee that she could be chosen. It also meant a dragon was more likely to come in her direction and when the gold and green collided, Mylorah had very vivid memories of Syrendryth and Bedith’s clutch and she instinctively grabbed the nearest girl and tugged her back several steps with her as her eyes stayed on the pair.
She cried out when Sariel fell and ended up in the path of the fight and was back to clasping a hand over her mouth to keep from screaming. No one else was allowed to die! Tears were starting to well up but when Sariel and the gold seemed to bond and help each other up, the tears fell free from relief and she managed a small smile for the happy pair and she silently wished them well. Sariel was tough and she’d make it through whatever the injury ended up being, especially with her dragon and human mates surrounding her.
Holy shit.
