She shoved her hair out of her face, the short locks had begun to grow out of control again but August wasn't sure she wanted to chop them off this time. What in the hell was that noise, she thought to herself as she tried to wake up, tried to get her eyes open. It continued, the deep thrumming hums and August's dark eyes sprung open when she realized what it was.
She stretched before she sat up, a tiny squeak coming out of her at the depth of the stretch and jumped from her bed. The hatching was starting and she frowned. She was pretty sure that everyone said that it wasn't going to happen for days. The touching just happened yesterday and August wasn't sure if she was ready for the hatching to start. Not that it mattered, she laughed at herself, the babies were obviously ready.
She stuffed her feet into shoes and her body into robes even as she was moving from her room. She'd just gotten completely together, hair scraped back into a short tail as she stepped onto the sands. That had been a close one, being late for a hatch was probably not the best thing to do and she shivered slightly in the heat. Some of the eggs were rocking and she accidentally bumped into another candidate on her way towards the eggs. "Sorry," she mumbled, embarrassed that she'd gotten distracted enough to run into someone. She was usually a lot more focused on things, but hatchings so far had always been enough to distract her.
She settled with the rest of the candidates, nodding to those she knew in passing and shuffled her feet to wait. She needed to make friends with these people, one of these days she was going to be a rider with them and it would only be the smart thing to do. Wouldn't it? She sighed and clasped her hands in front of her as she watched and waited.
