Quinvalis woke with the first hum that reached his bed. He knew what that meant but it also didn’t seem right that it should be happening right then. Still, he got himself ready without much fuss and helped himself to something to eat when the baskets arrived. He tried asking the assistants what it meant and if everything was okay but he didn’t get much in the way of answers. Everything seemed fine and it wasn’t unreasonably early so nothing to worry about.
Since he didn’t know any better either, he shrugged and went along with what he was told. He had a feeling if something was truly wrong, it would show more on their faces and R’nya would be saying something by now. Quinvalis held the Weyrleader in high regard and knew he wouldn’t keep anything from them, especially if it would result in what Ista had a few months back. Quinvalis hated that Madiquel had to witness that and he still wasn’t entirely sure how he felt about her actually Impressing as well. But he knew Zezeth was doing a lot better thanks to their letters back and forth.
He followed the crowd into the grounds and shuffled around until he found a good spot that had a nice view of the eggs and where he could kind of people watch. He could see the Weyrleaders, a good portion of the Candidates, and a decent view of the stands. Not that he liked that most would have just as great of a view as him but he didn’t plan on doing anything to stand out—except maybe Impress. That would be nice.
