He wasn't sure what he expected when he touched his next egg, maybe more of the same. Happiness and excitement, that would have been wonderful but this egg bypassed all his happy memories and brought out the ones that flustered him. Casa. Mylo. The stupid merchant who'd tried to swindle him. All of those memories raged and Dandioar could feel himself blush from the tips of his ears to the point of his chin. He hated being flustered but he knew it was something that was always at the forefront of his interactions with other people. Some day he'd go through life without that emotion but today wasn't that day. A sudden influx of panic had him clenching his fingers and his teeth, trying to apologize to the dragonet for bringing chaos as he snatched his hand away.
Breath puffed out and Dandi dragged a hand through his hair, leaving it standing on end as he muddled through his thoughts. None of the reactions of him and everyone else had seemed to be so terrible as those he'd witnessed during Thallyath's touching, but he hadn't expected the intensity of them. Maybe it was because they were normal dragonets and not something dead or dying. They had more personality with thoughts and ideas that were more solid. He'd heard the stories of Thallyath's and Dandi was glad this was not that clutch. He eyed Aradissicath again to make sure the gold had not moved, he had no desire to be bitten in half by an angry gold and backed away from the egg he'd just touched.
Once more, one more and then he was going to find Mylo and sink his emotions into his friend. He appreciated that she'd never asked for something more serious all the times they fell into each other, having a friend he could love and leave without pissing them made things so much easier. He reached another egg, a little smaller than the last, but no less warm and smooth. He pulled in his breath and laid a palm against the shell.
Egg #40
