Tazikel snorted. “You needn’t bother playing wingman for me ever, thank you,” he said contemptuously. As if he needed the help. More like he had women throwing themselves at him - look at Mylorah, even! She was the one who grabbed him to dance, after all.
He wrinkled his nose at the kiss on the forehead, only emphasizing the childish air, and pouted as some of the curls bounced into his face. “I was hoping to regain the sleep you’ve so rudely stolen from me, so the maids will have to hold that thought for a while.” It was a terrible response, but Tazikel had just woken up and felt he could be forgiven for not having the wittiest retorts yet. All he wanted to do was go back to sleep until a more reasonable time - no, an unreasonable time, Azrin had disrupted his sleep so he had to get extra now.
“You’ll have to bring her next time to make up for it, then,” Tazikel said loftily, already settling back down so he could go back to sleep. He paused, head not quite to his pillow as Azrin mentioned the party. Parties he actually paid attention to. Not because they were fun by design, but because they were easy enough to make fun with a little creativity. Explore the location, seduce someone for a tryst in a niche somewhere, insult some boring people, tiptoe on the edge of properly embarrassing his father, fun things. And having Mylorah there? Would be amazing. He could show her all the boring Lordly things, and then show her how to actually have a good time. Maybe he could even convince her to wear more than two layers, just for kicks (also because she’d look gorgeous in a gown).
“I’ll ask her,” he said, finally relaxing back into his bed. “Now shoo, or I won’t get my beauty sleep and how will I ever convince her to attend the party without that.”
