It was mid-afternoon when R’vi made it to the Gather in Telgar. While he loved parties and mingling, he also enjoyed sleeping in when he could and also had to admit, Gathers too early in the day meant the fun later into the Gather was much later. If he showed up when it was already well into the swing of things, he could still enjoy the food and do a little shopping if it struck him, but the dancing and drinking and socializing of the event really took off the closer the sun got to the horizon. That was more his style.
He had also made sure to check in with Casa one final time before going to make sure she didn’t want his company. It sucked that Thallyath Flew when she did and didn’t seem to like the idea of Casa riding on any other dragon. The poor girl was born to socialise like he was and she had to stay at the rather dead Weyr because even the Weyrlings that were old enough were allowed to get out for the day. She waved him off, however, and said R’dare might stop in later to help her with some homework and that was enough to scare him away. Being a goldrider sucked! R’vi was beyond thrilled he got the blue and his brother got bronze if a shiny dragon meant more studying and work.
As he wandered around with a mug of sweet mead, R’vi spotted some of Ista’s Weyrlings which he dutifully checked up on, extending his assistance in all areas as he often did. Usually it went towards the older Candidates but Weyrlings close to graduation sometimes needed an extra hand and he was happy to oblige. He also found some of Telgar’s Weyrlings and marvelled over how well the humans were shaping up and enjoyed listening to some of the adventures both rider and dragon had been getting into. He also promised to make a visit to the Weyr in the coming days to further check up on them all but Indivara was their Weyrlingmaster so he knew they were in excellent hands.
When he walked by the dance square, R’vi found himself being pulled in for a dance by Mylorah where he let his hands wander a bit thanks to the silent invitation in her eyes. He knew the Leaders of each Weyr were around and even if they weren’t, they had enough loyal subjects to report any misbehaviour. He hated the ‘behave yourself’ rules they were all reminded of every time a Gather came around but R’vi did his best to obey, at least while in the direct public areas. Still, he gave Mylorah a few lingering kisses with an invitation for them to get together sometime soon.
Then he was off—or she was, it was hard to say when two flirty individuals that had wandering eyes were surrounded by new and interesting people. It didn’t matter to R’vi as he headed back to the vendor that had the amazing mead so he could purchase another one and double taking as he saw B’jin hanging off of D’hys’ arm as he went. What the heck? That wasn’t something he expected to see, though he didn’t entirely blame B’jin knowing what he did about D’hys’ skills in the bedroom. But where did that leave R’nd? That wasn’t his mystery to figure out that evening and R’vi went back to getting his drink as he looked around for someone else he knew or wanted to get to know.
