While this wasn’t M’dox’s first kiss he decided almost immediately that it was his favorite. For one, of all the people he’d kissed (which sounded like he’d kissed way more people than he had), he liked T’bia the most. The others he barely knew, let alone liked; his first kiss, the girl at the Candidate party-thing who’d propositioned him while he was drunk (he’d panicked and said yes), pretty much the same situation at different event with a weyrbrat guy (he’d panicked and said yes then too), and then the Searched Candidate who’d approached him after the memorably awkward ‘here’s how Flights work’ class (predictably, he’d panicked and said yes). It wasn’t like that with T’bia; he hadn’t panicked and said yes, he had just said yes. Sure, he was nervous, but he wasn’t afraid, and the difference was important. M’dox wanted this, in a way he hadn’t wanted any of his previous kisses.
He leaned into T’bia’s hands, shifting his hand on T’bia's shoulder, intending to pull him closer, before M’dox realized that might not work as well as he was hoping. If T’bia moved any closer, he’d be in M’dox’s lap; which he didn’t have a problem with at all, it’s just that it would put T’bia’s mouth a few inches higher. Considering the several inches between them in height already, M’dox figured the extra distance would only lead to one or both of them straining their necks, which was not at all what they wanted to do. If T’bia found it uncomfortable he might not want to kiss M’dox again later! No, they’d have to do something else.
“Here,” M’dox breathed, moving his hands to T’bia’s shoulders and pressing them a little, “Sit back a bit.” He gently guided T’bia to a different position, moving the bluerider until he was sitting vaguely crosslegged. “If you’re ever uncomfortable let me know and we can do something else, okay?” M’dox said, punctuating the statement with a quick kiss before sitting back and waiting for confirmation from T’bia before doing anything else. Once T’bia had responded in the positive, M’dox shuffled forward until he was sitting in T’bia’s lap — T’bia may be too tall to sit in his lap, but he wasn’t too tall to sit in T’bia’s. It was actually easier for him to kiss T’bia sitting this way than it had been before moving, which was ideal.
“Is this okay?” M’dox asked, again wanting confirmation before continuing, as he gently wrapped his arms around T’bia’s shoulders and pressed their foreheads together.
