Indivara laughed, shaking her head as R’nd went on a tangent about lavender oil and all the apparently good things the scent meant to him. She rolled her eyes dramatically at his sentimentality, though she flashed a teasing grin at him. More laughter fell from her lips as R’nd was quick to throw out her idea that the flower was for a secret lover. “You’re no fun,” she teased, brushing the flower’s petals across her nose playfully, enjoying the scent of it. She’d give R’nd that much, at any rate – he could pick out a nice flower! She twirled it between her fingers, watching the way it blurred into itself at the motion.
The flurry of blue caught her attention from the flower, and Indivara looked up curiously as Rell came floating in. A calming hand was raised to pet Queenie as the gold firelizard screwed her nose up at R’nd’s blue, and the little queen snorted. Indivara hushed the creature, amused as much by Rell’s eyeing off Queenie as Queenie’s glaring at the blue. Stupid creatures, firelizards. Frowning suddenly, she peered around to find Saph, spotting the little blue on top of a nearby shelf, curled up on a pile of dried … lavender. Indivara sighed dramatically and shook her head at him. Really? She ignored the way Venseth laughed in amusement.
Indivara’s attention returned to R’nd as he leaned over her to get something off the shelf, and she had to resist the strong urge to give him a poke in the ribs, knowing that most people found that to be a ticklish spot, if not a spot that surprised them when it was attacked.
Speaking of surprise attacks!
“Something like that,” Indivara murmured, flushing deeply and dropping her gaze to the vicinity of R’nd’s chest rather than meeting his eyes. Despite the way she was avoiding his gaze there was nothing angry or embarrassed about her; probably it was more accurate to say she was vibrating with warm delight as she twirled the flower before putting it gently back in his basket, none the worse for wear from its adventure. She glanced up, to see what kind of expression R’nd was wearing, before turning her attention to her basket. “I got this one,” she pushed aside a couple of items to pull out the packet of rose scented soap-sand, the quirk of her smirk indicating it wasn’t intended to be an actual gift. She still thought the idea of V’ler smelling of roses was hilarious (and maybe more than a little delicious).
How exactly she was going to get him to use it, was the question she hadn’t examined too closely yet and she didn’t in that moment, either, as she handed the packet to R’nd and went back to fossicking through her basket. “And I got this one, for Veeth’s oil. So he doesn’t stink like you and B’jin.” She threw R’nd a dirty look, like it was all his fault Veeth was so damned adorable and wanted to smell pretty like Larrikith. She picked up a vial of pure oil, this one a mixture of a several essential oils, which included lavender, but had a few others that mixed well, to create a unique scent that wasn’t particularly girly, but was still pretty and she thought the blue might like.
Handing that to R’nd to look at, too, Indivara lifted blue eyes to meet R’nd’s challengingly, not quite sure why she was on the defensive but prepared none the less to be laughed at or mocked... and bestow appropriate punishment before fleeing, of course.
