“I’m drinking it so I can learn to like it so I don’t look more out of place than usual if I ever have to rub elbows with Holders or snooty bronzeriders who drink this stuff like water,” R’dare quirked one brow at N’mor before saluting him with his glass and taking another sip. They both knew the stereotypes that came with the colour of their dragons’ hides and since neither one of them seemed overly sensitive, it was fun to tease each other.
“And no, he hasn’t,” R’dare coughed as the wine went down the wrong pipe. How did that even happen? It was like breathing and suddenly choking. How was he that clumsy that something he was born knowing how to do betrayed him? Clearing his throat, R’dare thought about how to explain chasing and why winning wasn’t always the best outcome. “Daisi’s basing his interest solely off the dragon and I’m stuck with the rider whether I want to be or not, if he wins, I mean. And thankfully, he hasn’t won yet. It’s not that they’re older but… odd? To be avoided?” He shrugged, assuming N’mor would understand the point about age. He, at least, grew up playing with kids younger and older than him and now thought people much older than him were attractive. It was just something normal to him.
