"Good. Then you can dodge duties out here with me. If anyone finds us, we'll say we've just finished bathing Daisy and were taking a rest," R'dare grinned wickedly at his friend, not at all worried about her ratting him out if it did come down to being caught slacking off. She wasn't about to accuse him of holding her hostage and it was close enough to the truth that even his blue lie-detector wouldn't huff that much.
R'dare leaned back, intent on stretching out so he could stare up at the sunlight peeking through the leaves, he paused long enough to pull out a sharp rock and a twig that were rudely in his space. That taken care of, the position was nabbed, arms going behind his head to act as a pillow. He was quiet for a moment, content to watch the leaves rustle in the light breeze. Finally he glanced back over at Madiquel and asked the question they'd all avoided for a while given her age.
"Have you thought more about Standing when they let you?" R'dare hated the rule that had Madiquel waiting longer than he and his male friends had to before being allowed to Stand. She was three years younger than him but most of the time she seemed like the older one. She was mature and wise in her own way and any dragon would be lucky to have that. Why did they have to wait to find out about her? Not that it seemed to bother Madiquel. She seemed to be in no hurry for such things and enjoyed the benefits of youth and not being bonded. He supposed that might have something to do with taking care of her father after the landslide when Jajojin's dragon perished. Being bonded himself now for a few years, R'dare wasn't sure how he functioned without Kadaisicalth and was convinced he wouldn't be able to if the dragon left him behind.
