"More or less," he replied delicately. In truth, that had been a particularly smooth flight. He didn't want to alarm the girl, though, and he was pleased to have put a more positive image of dragon flight in her mind. "It can be a bit daunting the first time," he said. "I still remember the first time I rode - It was a green who came to pick me up after being searched from my home hold. I was nervous!"
He chuckled lightly at the memory. He'd been clumsy at that age, and to a degree he still was. He remembered how precarious it felt to sit on the green dragon's back, looking down at the ground as if it were a mile away. It seemed so long ago. The dragon seemed so mysterious. He hadn't thought of that in a long time. Sometimes, being around the youngsters was the best way to remember one's own youth and the feelings of wonder that tended to come along with it.
He smiled warmly at her. "Well, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Hopefully you'll be flying yourself within a turn or two," he said approvingly. "I'd better be getting back, though. It's been a while since I had a good night's sleep. Thank you for all your help."
