R’nya gave a soft, breathy laugh between kisses at Rhaedalyn’s soft whispering demand for attention to be paid to the current task, and not any other timeframe. The bronzerider was happy to comply, with lips and fingertips that simply couldn’t seem to be satisfied, no matter how much of Rhaedalyn’s silky skin they came into contact with. R’nya decided in that moment that he would never tire of exploring Rhaedalyn’s body, side tracked as easily as he was by something as simple and innocent as a lonely freckle that needed some loving.

Taking a deep breath, and breathing it out in a slow and measured way, trying to reclaim control of his breathing, R’nya reached out to wrap his arms gently around Rhaedalyn, pulling the young goldrider flush against him, and nuzzling his nose into the crook of her neck, heedless of her damp and tangled hair. He pressed a gentle kiss against her neck, enjoying the feel of her body curled against his own, but wondering how much longer they would be given without interruption. R’nya grimaced into Rhaedalyn’s hair; going from Wingleader to Weyrleader was an uncomfortable leap, particularly with a Weyr that was full of odds and ends riders.
Soon it will be full of Weyrlings. The bronze dragon’s input was as smug as R’nya expected it to be, but it made the man smile none the less, and he hugged Rhaedalyn tighter for a moment, before relaxing his arms loosely. His lips placed butterfly kisses over Rhaedalyn’s neck, stopping by her ear, but only so he could nibble lightly on the lobe.
“This clutch will be one of the first to Hatch in a Northern Weyr in twenty years,” R’nya’s voice carried a wistful tone, spoken quietly. He wasn’t quite sure what the Flight routine was for the other mature gold dragons, and so he couldn’t be sure if Aradissicath and Xyreith’s clutch would be the first – but it would be one of the first! “We have come so far.” They’d lost so much, but they had gained much, too. There were enough of them now to spread between all the Northern Weyrs and still have those who sought retirement settling in Katila. Soon, they would have full Weyrs and functioning Wings and then, someday, perhaps they would be ready to fight Threadfall, should it seek to return to Pern and not simply be a terrible nightmare that once plagued them.
