T’bia squealed; Jycenth yelped, and water went everywhere as the dragon half fell into the pool, before scrabbling backwards while T’bia resurfaced, coughing and spluttering and staring in shock and not some small amount of horror, at R’nd. Huge blue eyes stared at the man that had mentored him through much of his weyrlinghood, and recently become a particularly prominent figure in the tidal wave of advanced pubescence. A hot flush crept up T’bia’s neck, and over his face; he was suddenly horrifyingly aware of his stuffy nose, his itchy eyes, and his stark nakedness (and R’nd’s!) and his blush intensified.
Jycenth, having scrabbled back out of the pool and a safe distance away, stood up and shook the water droplets from himself, before meandering over to the side of the pool behind T’bia. Picking a choice spot, the two-toned blue dragon sprawled out on his side, and twisted just so, making himself both comfortable and in a position to watch what would transpire without actively claiming attention. He was, however, also close enough to interfere, were such actions called for. He did not think they would be, but with T’bia, one could never be quite sure.
“R-r’nd,” T’bia stuttered his friend’s name, one hand appearing out of the water to brush over his face, and rake his sopping hair back off his face. Tugging on a lock of his hair anxiously, T’bia stared at his fellow bluerider for several moments before he realised he was giving his anxiety away and his hand fell down to splash back into the water. T’bia blinked owlishly, fighting down a renewed blush and sank down, so the water came up to his chin. Did you call him? T’bia’s words were half demand, half beg, as he glanced at his dragon, then back at R’nd.
I did not, Jycenth replied soothingly, though neither he nor T’bia could figure out if T’bia himself would be more or less relieved by that fact. It mattered not, in the end, and T’bia lowered his eyes and hugged himself in the warm water. “You’re up early,” T’bia murmured quietly, barely loud enough for R’nd to hear. He squirmed uncomfortably on the spot as his over active mind contorted the sentence and brought dreams and desires crashing back down around him. T’bia bit his lip, and continued to stare resolutely at the water below his chin.
