Rhaedalyn tensed with the shifting of her bed under the weight of someone else. She had her suspicions about who it was but found herself oddly confused over who she wanted it to be. That was rather odd considering her love for Z’ia and how much he meant to her and made her feel safe and desired but R’nya always appeared when she was upset and needed someone and she longed for his presence as well. Then again, he was the reason she was a crying mess right then and was mad at her. It didn’t make sense to want to see him, especially since she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to say to the bronzerider. Multiple apologies would be a good starting point but the more she thought about it, the more she wondered if she was the one at fault. She had definitely misunderstood quite a bit about the situation with K’tir but R’nya could have been nicer about his reaction!
Upon hearing Z’ia’s voice, a small smile appeared. There was definite relief in knowing it was the bluerider and neither of the other two men that had strung her along. Yes, she decided, R’nya was at fault as well. If he had only talked to her after the flight with the rumours running rampant and explained everything, she would have believed him and not gone off into her daydreams and created the perfect relationship for R’nya out of nothing. Z’ia was still at fault as well for encouraging the idea for the dinner but his apology did wonders on her frazzled emotions and she felt herself softening up towards him again and peeked out from under the blanket to see him wipe away a tear.
Her heart bled for the bluerider, knowing he was in pain over the ordeal as well and her resolve to cry alone all night almost broke at the sight. However, she wasn’t in the mood to entertain a guest anymore and didn’t even want to be coddled and held in that moment. It was clear her silence was bothering Z’ia as well as he hesitantly excused himself and got up to leave, saying those three special words that made her heart skip a beat and a blush to creep across her face. She knew he loved her, he replied back all the time she said it first, but was that the first time he actually said the words?
Oh how easy it would be to throw back the blankets and fling herself at Z’ia and cling onto him as if she were drowning and he was the only way she could be saved but she didn’t. Her spirit, however, had been broken the moment R’nya snapped at her and walked out and the hard truth that she was too trusting and people could use her had shattered her. Not even Z’ia was fully trusted in her current mood but her dedication to the man made her follow through with the longing and she climbed out of bed much to the protests of three firelizards.
With a shaky breath she finally managed a reply as she stopped before Z’ia, taking his hand in hers, “I love you too, my dearest Z’ia.” A light kiss was given to lips she thought were sexy when set both in a smile and a pout and pulled away a moment later. “However, I want to be alone tonight.” Not waiting for a response, Rhaedalyn turned away and went back to hiding under the blankets.
Once she was settled, Whisper showed her golden attitude by puffing up at Rhaedalyn’s feet and hissing in Z’ia’s direction, making it very clear he didn’t need to come back. She had always been partial to R’nya and Z’ia was bonded to the horrible green known as Plague. He didn’t need to linger any longer that night. While Whisper played defence, Rumour disappeared though Rhaedalyn had no idea what her quieter blue was up to as she pulled Muffin closer and hugged him close to her chest like she always had when he first hatched.
