Casa saw another chain reaction of Hatchings and Impressions begin as she stood there, surprised and pleasantly soothed by the whole thing. The sky had really decided to join in the celebration too, dumping buckets and buckets of rain down upon the whole Hatching. But somehow, not even that seemed to bother Casa. This Hatching was going smoothly and quickly, and not an injury or...or other bad thing happening. She shuddered and shook her head out, glancing uneasily from the Impressions back to the Queen egg that sat there, still looking as whole as ever. She took solace in that, until it started shaking and bouncing around itself.
Blinking, she turned her attention away from the Hatchings going on around her to watch the pretty egg, as did many of the other Gold candidates. It seemed she was quite intent on making her escape - one foot came right through. A curious chirp caught Casa's attention, and she turned to see another one of the dragons, a green, watching interestedly. Hmm. She couldn't blame the little creature - it was an exciting thing to watch! She glanced back and forth between the two dragonets until another foot kicked loose, and then a thin spiderweb of eggs went over the shell - momentary panic from Casa here - and suddenly it crumpled away to reveal a very whole and very gold dragonet.
She was in a messy little pile at first, but she quickly pulled herself into a very dignified position, and began trotting towards the women. A heavy roll of thunder overhead snarled through the air, but it didn't seem to phase the little Gold at all. Casa liked that - a dragon on a mission, who knew exactly where she was going.
Of course I know where I'm going. The soft, heavy voice rolled through Casa's mind like a mini clap of thunder itself, and she felt her face rip open into a huge grin. Thallyath had come straight to her, knowing her path as much as any dragon could ever! She turned to stroke the dragon's beautiful hide, a soft faded kind of gold; it really didn't seem to stand out much, and she found she was quite fine with that. She didn't need someone flashy or showy. She was rather diminutive too, but Casa was a small girl herself. They were a wonderful pair.
We have other purposes than to flitt around the sky all day. Come, Casa, I'm hungry. Casa was already leading the little gold towards food, stroking her head softly and sighing in contentment. She fed Thallyath handfuls of the fresh meat, sating the tiny Gold before rubbing her eyes. It is time for rest now. When we wake up, we can eat again, and then oil my hide. Casa nodded in agreement, pleased to see Thallyath had a plan in place.
