R’nd had initially thought about lending a hand with the cleaning up of the party but enjoyed knowing others would do it and he wouldn’t be frowned upon for not doing his share of the less savoury portion of having a celebration. He also liked the idea of sitting back and watching the kids play, or he did until B’jin brought up bodily harm. He tensed as the wherry and weapons were spotted and cringed. He had never actually played such a game when he was young but R’nd knew about it and had seen a few happen in Katila. Children with sticks were dangerous. Very dangerous. R’nd became perfectly still, even though the game hadn’t been brought up yet.
It was only when Amorandii found the gift he had given her that R’nd relaxed again and smiled. “Tell Larrikith I’m sorry if she ends up as the blue dragon one day.” He spoke softly, amusement dancing in his words as the young girl discovered her new pots of paint within the box. The idea came to him a while ago and R’nd had thankfully kept it mind, calling in a few favours to get the colourful paints created for him. He only hoped it was only the green dragon that ended up painted and no more articles of clothing! When the birthday girl came running and squealing, R’nd leaned forward and readied himself for the flying hug that hit seconds later. “You’re welcome, Amorandii. Happy birthday.”
The girl was given a quick kiss to the top of her head and sent back to finish with her gifts so they could move on to the games. When the piñata was jostled by an excitable child, R’nd sat back and did his best not to use B’jin as a human shield when he slipped his arm around the greenrider’s waist. “Earlier when you said death was on the agenda, I wasn’t too keen on that idea but right now I think it’d be a bit quieter.” He still wasn’t used to children and a group of them could make so much noise! Surely he hadn’t been that loud with his siblings when they were young.
“So, when is nap time?” It was a wishful thinking question since R’nd had a sinking suspicion that such things didn’t happen at a birthday party that was fuelled by sugar. No matter how much running around was had, the kids wouldn’t drop and that made for a sad bluerider that longed for a few more hours of sleep.
